"DC Comics Proudly Presents: The Flash" by Marcus To (10,11), Francis Manapul (12-17), Marcio Takara (18-19) and Brian Buccellato
(The Flash Vol. 4 #10-19)
One of my favourite parts about the New 52 Flash is the way it always incorporates the title page into the story like this.
Like I said in the post if the movie had made his SISTER black too I wouldn’t have even questioned it. It’s because they are using diversity to change his character is why “diversity for the sake of diversity” is not helpful. They are changing him simply to be diverse with no sign of care for the character.
This Is How Koalas Run
That’s fucking adorable
I know I’m probably just going to be called racist about my opinion, cause I don’t understand the reason they made the human torch black for the new movie. Now I know I’m not racist! If this casting choice had been Ben Grimm or Reed Richards I wouldn’t care. I’d just think okay their changing the race whatever. If Sue’s actress was also black I’d have the same thought. If Sue and Johnny were both Half-White Half-Black in skin tone no issue. Do you understand why? Because all of those options would not have altered the consistency of the comic! Having Johnny and Sue who are sibling related by BLOOD be two different ethnicities doesn’t show they are interested in relating to the canon of the characters. Yes I understand their fictional characters but that doesn’t mean their canon should be changed. As well as this choice ignores a good section of their history. Either johnny will have no relation to Sue in which case there sibling bond will be left out of the story, and that is one of their best qualities. Or they will be step-sibling and one of them will just be overwhelmed with a “self-discovery plot”(Most likely Johnny). This decision seems to be made on no other account other than “Box Office Diversity”. Which means being diverse for the sake of being diverse and knowing it will benefit you(the box office). Like I said I know some of you are going to call me a racist just for having this thought, but I don’t care, if they wanted these characters to be different ethnicities for the characters they would have been thorough and good result, Marvel’s films can be very good at that. What they did was a quick character change to earn more money.
